Are you looking to launch a career in software development while working on something that genuinely matters?
UCS Assist is building Project Atlas , a clinically-led, purpose-built platform that powers international medical repatriation and travel assistance operations. We’re not building another generic tool. We’re building critical infrastructure that helps get patients home safely from anywhere in the world.
We’re looking for one or two ambitious, curious Junior Developers to join the Atlas build team as apprentices. You’ll train towards a BPP Level 4 Software Developer qualification while contributing real, meaningful code to a live product from day one.
What you’ll be working on
Project Atlas is a modular, cloud-first platform built on Python, Django, React, and Azure SQL. As a junior developer on the team you’ll contribute to:
- Core case management and clinical workflow modules
- Electronic Patient Care Record (EPCR) data capture
- Reporting, dashboards, and analytics features
- Security-first API design and database integration
- Testing, documentation, and code quality processes
What we’re looking for
You don’t need to be an expert — you need to be curious, driven, and ready to learn. Ideally you’ll have:
- A genuine interest in software development and technology
- Some experience with Python, SQL, or web development (personal projects, education, or bootcamp)
- A systematic, problem-solving mindset
- Strong written communication
- GCSE Maths and English (Grade C/4+) and 3 A-Levels or equivalent
What we offer
- Fully-funded BPP Level 4 Software Developer Apprenticeship with a clear progression pathway to a Level 6 BSc (Applied Digital Technology, Software Engineering)
- Hands-on experience building a real, regulated clinical platform
- Mentorship from an experienced Technical Lead
- Exposure to Azure cloud services, AI integration, and clinical governance
- Salary in line with apprenticeship minimum wage for age
- Hybrid working arrangement
- A role that genuinely contributes to patient safety and clinical outcomes
